ANI accuses ChatGPT of scraping content from its subscribers

By Staff Writer in Media News on
Asian News International (ANI) told the Delhi High Court that OpenAI’s ChatGPT is not only taking content directly from the news agency’s website but also scraping content from ANI’s subscribers, according to Bar and Bench.   ANI’s counsel advocate, Sidhant Kumar, submitted the case before Justice Amit Bansal. Advocate Kumar argued that the AI model is infringing copyrights by taking content from the agency’s subscribers, citing the example of a news article from the Economic Times, a subscriber to ANI’s services.   “While they crawl from my (ANI’s) website, they also crawl material from my subscribers. While they say that they don't take content from me, they are taking from my subscribers. I do not cease to have control over copyright. I don’t divest control … Merely because I have licensed contact content for public viewing by a person who has paid a subscription or a license fee, I do not cease to have control over that content,” Kumar argue
