Resonate Broadcasting lists 11 regional Queensland stations for sale

By staff writer in Media News on
Resonate Broadcasting is putting 11 regional radio stations across seven Queensland markets up for sale, covering nearly 39 per cent of the state’s population, according to Mumbrella.  The portfolio includes stations such as 4CCC in Charleville and 4GC in Charters Towers, aligned with Southern Cross Austereo’s Hit and Triple M networks. Founded in 2008 by Rex Morris and Guy Dobson, Resonate acquired the stations over several deals with Macquarie Media. Their Hawaiian stations are not included in this sale. Morris, now Triple M Sydney’s content director, said the decision to sell comes after 16 years at the helm. “At the end of the day, we’ve been doing this for 16 years… it’s time for us to sell, and we’ve got other things we might like to explore in the future,” he said, noting there’s no specific buyer in mind but expects interest from a broad range of parties. Despite a dip in national radio ad revenue in 2024, regional radio remained relatively stable, wi

Lizzies Winners: Daniel Roberts, Top Newsmaker

By Will McLennan in Media News on
IREN co-founder Daniel Roberts said he was “a bit lost for words” when he took out the Lizzy for Top Newsmaker at this year’s Samsung Australian IT Journalism Awards.  “I’m stoked to have won it and very grateful,” Roberts told Influencing. To be honest, I was a bit lost for words, which is ironic, given that it’s an award for talking too much. “It’s a huge privilege to work on some of the biggest shifts in tech with companies genuinely changing the world.  “The pace of change is staggering, making open debate more important than ever so we can challenge assumptions, surface new ideas, and keep each other accountable. I think a few years from now, we’ll all look back and be blown away by how far things have moved.” Roberts won the award for his interactions with journalists and the media in the last 12 months, appearing in Capital Brief, The Australian and The Australian Financial Review, among others.  Roberts described his approach as, “open and

So it was with great delight that I accepted the Best Technology Reviewer award despite a difficult 2024 behind the scenes.” Sen won the award for his ‘In-Depth Review”’of the Dreame AI Robotic Lawn Mower, a review of the DJI Neo Drone and an ‘early review’ of the Canon EOS R1. Sen said the first of his three entries was, “at the top of the list”. “It was an
