Prasar Bharati OTT launch date rescheduled

By Staff Writer in Media News on
Prasar Bharati’s OTT platform, which was announced in 2023, will be launched on October 3, according to StoryBoard18.   The launch was originally scheduled for August 15 and was pushed to September 15 for various reasons.   Prasar Bharati received applications from 106 channels, 44 of which were selected, and 40 agreed to join the platform. Four major television networks reportedly opted not to stream their linear channels on the platform.   This move into the OTT space not only stirs up competition for the other OTT players but also distresses linear TV channels in the market.   In a letter dated September 2, the All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF) has urged the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to withdraw Prasar Bharati’s notice inviting TV broadcasters to its soon-to-be-launched OTT platform.   The pubcaster planned to enter the OTT space despite the presence of various international private OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hots

By Pradeep Damodaran in Media News on
In a significant step towards fulfilling one of the most controversial poll promises in this term, the Modi govt on Wednesday kicked off the exercise to implement its ‘One Nation One Election’ promise by 2029, accepting the proposals of a high-level panel headed by former President Ramnath Kovind. To implement the second step — holding elections to local bodies within 100 days of general elections — a second Constitutional amendment will be required, which will need to be ratified by at least half the
