Research validates unique Australian investment-education model

Recent research has validated a unique Australian model of collaborative investment education, finding that 95 per cent of participants have become better investors.
The research was conducted by Teaminvest, a collaborative think tank of around 580 investors who meet monthly to study and discuss the merits and shortcomings of companies listed on the ASX.
In an online survey, Teaminvest members were asked “what influence has Teaminvest had on you as an investor?” Of the 366 respondents, 349 reported that they had become better investors.
Additionally, 67 per cent responded “more than 75 per cent” or “almost all of them” when asked what percentage of shares they still held of those they had bought since becoming Teaminvest members. This high number indicates that the shares they bought since learning under the Teaminvest model remained good stocks to hold over the medium- to long-term.
Teaminvest was founded 14 years ago and practises a rules-based approach to investing, inspired by Warren Buffett. Rather than trying to find ‘good investments’, members work collaboratively to exclude companies and become interested solely in the small number remaining that have passed their very rigorous process. Only at that point, do they consider share price and return.
The approach is vigorous, with members attending full-day MasterClasses each month in capital cities around Australia. Recently, Teaminvest added optional webinars to discuss UK- and US-based listed companies.
