In one of the most high-profile and closely tracked lawsuits on AI use in India, OpenAI, the American artificial intelligence research organisation headed by Sam Altman, has claimed that any order to remove training data for their product ChatGPT would breach US laws. This was in response to a suit filed by Asian News International, a leading news agency in India, for violating its intellectual property rights, Reuters reported.   ANI filed a lawsuit against the US AI giant in November 2024, accusing it of using its published content to train its chatbot without consent. The news agency is seeking INR 20 million for the damages.   OpenAI had previously responded to the Court that it would not use ANI’s content anymore. The Pushpak Express, a train connecting Lucknow and Mumbai, witnessed a horrific tragedy on January 22, 2025, near Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district. Panic struck when a false fire alarm triggered chaos aboard the train. Gripped by fear, passengers pulled the emergency chain, halting the train on a bridge.   Nine has made significant cuts to its news department affecting both the Darwin and Gold Coast newsrooms, Mediaweek reported. The Darwin newsroom will bear the brunt with the 6 pm bulletin being axed and only a reporter and camera operator remaining to cover local stories. Territorians will now receive the Queensland news bulletin nightly. On the Gold Coast, the nightly news will be presented by a single newsreader with Eva Milic and Paul Taylor alternating shifts. These changes come after Amanda Laing was appointed managing director of the revamped streaming and broadcast division which brought together Stan, 9Now, Broadcast Television, and Radio, leading to several redundancies.
