Veteran ABC journalist and author Matt Peacock passes away after battle with cancer

Former ABC journalist and author Matt Peacock has passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer, the ABC confirmed earlier today.
Peacock, known for his fearless journalism, served as a foreign correspondent in London, New York, and Washington, as well as the ABC’s chief political correspondent for programs like AM and The World Today. His acclaimed book Killer Company, which exposed asbestos-related cover-ups by James Hardie Industries, was later adapted into the ABC miniseries Devil’s Dust.
Beginning his ABC career in 1973 as a cadet, Peacock dedicated decades to investigative reporting, advocating for marginalized communities. In 2013, he was elected by his peers as the staff representative on the ABC board.
