Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra legislator known for his close ties to Bollywood, particularly with Salman Khan, was shot to death by three assailants on Oct 12. Australian freelancers dominate MEAA’s 2024 NT Media Awards

Freelancers Kylie Stevenson, Caroline Graham, and Matilda Colling have taken top honours at the MEAA’s 2024 NT Media Awards for their investigative series 'NT Schools in Crisis,' published in The Australian and The Weekend Australian, Mediaweek reported.  Their in-depth reporting on the Northern Territory's school system led to a $1 billion funding boost for education and earned them the title of 'NT Journalists of the Year'. The team also won awards for Best Feature Writing, Best Online Coverage, Indigenous Affairs Reporting, and the Pete Davies Memorial Campaigning Journalism Award. Photographer Rebecca Parker was recognised in the Visual Storytelling category. Other notable winners included Christopher Walsh of NT Independent for Best News Coverage and Lillian Rangiah of ABC, who took home Best Sports Journalism and the Best Young Journalist award. Sarah Greenhalgh to co-anchor at 7NEWS Brisbane with Max Futcher

7NEWS Brisbane has announced that Sarah Greenhalgh will join Max Futcher as co-anchor of the 6:00 PM weekday bulletin starting October 21, according to an official media release.  Mediaweek reported that Greenhalgh will replace Sharyn Ghidella, who was sacked earlier this year and has since joined 10 Brisbane. Greenhalgh, a Brisbane native, returns to the Mount Coot-tha studios after five years as a foreign correspondent and investigative reporter. "Sharing people’s stories remains my greatest passion," she said, excited to work alongside Futcher. Futcher shared his enthusiasm, adding, “I can’t wait for our viewers to get to know Sarah as we share the news that matters to them.” Greenhalgh’s career includes accolades like Walkley and Kennedy Award nominations and a TV WEEK Logie nomination for her coverage of the Turkey-Syria earthquakes in 2023.

After 26 years as the host of Drive, Richard Glover has announced his departure from ABC Radio Sydney, as reported by Radio Today. Reflecting on his tenure, Glover said, “It’s one of the best jobs in Australian journalism, and I feel I’ve hogged it for long enough.” While Glover hinted at future projects with the ABC, he plans to shift focus to writing books, continuing his Sydney Morning Herald column, and addressing personal goals like his knee issues. Ray Lougheed, beloved announcer at 3YB FM Warrnambool, is retiring after 37 years of hosting the Down Memory Lane show, which airs Sundays from 9 PM to midnight radio info reported. His final broadcast will be on October 13. Down Memory Lane began 40 years ago, with Ray taking over three years later. He has spent over six decades in the radio industry, starting his career in 1962 at 3KZ as a turntable operator. Ray moved to Warrnambool in 1981, working in the Ambulance Service before casually announcing at 3YB in 1982. He expanded Down Memory Lane from one hour to its current three-hour format. Reflecting on his career, he noted the strong community connection fostered through listener interactions, including sending “cheerios” to fans. He also thanked Steve Welsh, a longtime contributor to the program. For his final show, Ray plans to play a collection of his favorite tracks from the 60s and 70s, along with classic Frank Sinatra.
