Veteran Australian radio icon John Laws has announced his retirement after a monumental 71-year career, Radioinfo reported.
The 87-year-old presenter revealed on his 2SM morning show that his last day on air will be Friday, November 8. “You. All the listeners. Anyone who calls to give me a part of their day. They are all important to me,” he said.
When asked why now, Laws shared, “Do you ever just get that feeling that enough is enough? I’ve had a hell of a lot of fun though.” He also expressed appreciation for his assistant Jodee Borgo and the late Bill Caralis for their support over the years.
Listeners can reach out to the broadcasting legend one last time by calling 1300 56 46 52 or emailing thefortress@johnlaws.com.au before he signs off for good.
