Journalist attacked in Thiruvarur after accused mistook him for another reporter

What initially appeared to be a targeted attack on a journalist in Tamil Nadu later took a surprising turn after the victim revealed that the accused had allegedly mistaken him for someone else connected to earlier drug-related news reports.
The Chennai Press Club has condemned the attack on Haja Maideen, a reporter with News J TV in Muthupettai, Thiruvarur district, while renewing concerns over the safety of journalists working on the ground.
According to reports, the incident took place on the night of May 18 when three youths from the same locality allegedly assaulted Maideen near his residence.
