A mysterious private equity-backed "business media platform" is recruiting for an Editor-in-chief, as it promises to "restore authenticity and trust in media". MIB amends FM Radio Phase III policy guidelines

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has introduced amendments to the FM Radio Phase III Policy Guidelines, offering concessions on annual fees for FM channels in new, uncovered cities across the North East, Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and island territories.  Under the Batch III FM Phase III auction, which includes FM channels in these uncovered cities, the reserve price for the auction will be based on the 2022 recommendations by TRAI. According to the Ministry's statement, "The permission holder in uncovered new cities under Batch III FM Phase III auction shall be liable to pay an Annual Fee to the Government of India charged at 4 per cent of the Gross Revenue of its FM radio channel for the financial year, excluding Goods and Service Tax." However, for cities in the North-East, Jammu and Kashmir, and the island territories, the Annual Fee will be reduced to 2 per cent of the Gross Revenue for an initial period of three years. It’s 30 years since Geoff Ebbs left his technology journalism role at PC Week. He became a best-selling author, started a business, went bust and then went into politics, with environmental conservation replacing technology at the fulcrum of his professional pursuits. Speaking to Influencing for this episode of ITJ Alumni, Ebbs traced his beginnings with technology back to the late 1970’s when a maths degree evolved into computer programming on mini-computers.
