It’s shaping up to be a dramatic week in the halls of power with debate over the social media ban reaching its peak just as the government does its best to shut down avenues for feedback from the public.  In what seems to be amounting to a rather impressive farce, the federal government allowed just one day of submissions into its proposed social media ban on under-16s, undoubtedly hoping that it would get just a handful of responses instead of the 15,000+ that it actually received. The Guardian’s Josh Taylor career has vacillated between reporting on tech and politics, so it’s not surprising that he’s loving his current role where he gets to do both. Taylor has always had a keen interest in technology. With the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance sweeping Maharashtra polls decisively and the BJP securing 132 of the 288-seat assembly on its own, the question of who would lead the alliance has occupied prominent front page space in all leading publications with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis emerging as the front runners. Sarah Sharples has been appointed to lead News.com.au’s newly established investigative reporting team, marking a significant step in her accomplished journalism career.  Sharples announced the move on LinkedIn. Brisbane radio is seeing significant talent shifts with former NRL star Corey Oates making a high-profile move to KIIS 97.3 FM, Radio Today reported.   After announcing his retirement from the Brisbane Broncos and NRL in October, Oates joined the Robin & Kip breakfast team for a segment called Find Corey a Job, where he tried out various roles from stand-up comedian to real estate agent. Today, Oates confirmed his new role as part of the rebranded Robin & Kip now with Corey Oates in the morning, debuting in January 2025.
