Mater Group searching for media/communications officer
Queensland healthcare conglomerate Mater Group is accepting applications for a new media/communications officer, to be based at its South Brisbane offices.
Under the aegis of the Group’s corporate communications manager, the media/communications officer is tasked to develop action strategies for Mater’s component organisations - Mater Health, Mater Education, Mater Research, and Mater Foundation. They will also liaise with key stakeholders in the development of Mater’s communications content and track all analytics data, plus handle all company events.
The post is open to graduates of journalism, communications, and public relations, with proven experience in the corporate communications circuit. They should demonstrate competence in videography/photography, MS Office, CMS, asset management, and running corporate digital platforms.
News editor wanted for West Australian Regional Newspapers
Seven West Media’s West Australian Regional Newspapers is searching for a news editor, to be based in Busselton, WA.
The news editor is in charge of processing all incoming content and write some of the material themselves. They will also liaise with the editorial staff in planning article production and layout, and to conduct interviews with subjects of interest. The person may also be tapped to represent the West Australian Regional Newspapers in public events, and build up contacts in the local community.
The prospect must have worked in an editor role for at least three years. They must be capable of working efficiently under sheer pressure, have strong interview and communication skills, and bears a valid driver’s licence.
Political reporter sought for NT News
News Corp Australia paper NT News is on the market for a new political reporter, to be based in Darwin.
The reporter will produce politics and general news stories for the NT News’ paper edition and digital channels. They may be also on the move for leads to stories that have not yet reached mainstream attention and also interact with readers.
Candidates should have over three years’ journalism experience, preferably covering the politics beat, and can conduct detailed interviews. They must be team players capable of rendering sound analysis and judgment to the coverage and can submit articles on time.
SCA to hire audio journalist
Southern Cross Austereo is opening its doors to a new audio journalist based on the Gold Coast.
The audio journalist will produce news items for SCA’s FM stations and device apps. The content will also include items about the local community.
Candidates must have at least three years’ experience in a commercial radio station with a proven record of generating content within deadlines and can read out the news in a conversational style. Applicants proficient in NewsBoss and familiarity with the Gold Coast and Tweed may be considered. Prospective applications must include a sample concise audio demo alongside the cover letter and CV.

SBS hiring for Tasmania correspondent
SBS’s Tasmania branch is opening applications for a new video correspondent, based in Hobart.
The correspondent will be primarily assigned to cover stories on the island that may have national interest and implications. They will also aid the newsroom with story ideas, and produce and edit the stories they cover.
The candidate should have at least two years’ experience in video news reporting, have skills in live broadcasts, can edit and upload for multiple platforms, and travel for breaking news coverage. The person must be highly familiar with Tasmania’s communities and SBS Radio.
