Open intelligence for better media engagement for all

Influencing’s Open Intelligence plan makes journalist intelligence accessible to PR professionals. We’ve opened up our media research to help close the gap between how PRs pitch and how journalists want to be approached.

    What it is

More than a name and an email address

Open Intelligence is the research behind every contact in Influencing, now available free on the Open Intelligence plan.

    Pitch preferences

How each journalist prefers to be approached, when, and which angles they respond to.

    Beats and focus

What they are writing about now, not what their job title said three years ago.

    Sourced, every time

Each public insight links to its source or is credited to Influencing when no public link exists.

    How it works

    From public record to pitch-ready

Four steps that turn scattered information into insights you can assess and use.

    1

    Research

Our media team reads bylines, author pages, interviews, awards and event programs.

    2

    Distil

Findings become short, single-fact insights, each tagged with a category and source.

    3

    Verify

Insights are checked by our team and, increasingly, by the journalists themselves.

    4

    Pitch

Search a journalist, read their insights and add private notes your team can build on.

    How verification works

Every insight shows how much to trust it

Public insights show who last confirmed them and when, rather than displaying a date without context.

    Verified by the journalist

    Strongest confirmation

The journalist confirmed the insight themselves.

    Verified by Influencing

    Checked against its source

Our media team checked the insight against its source on the date shown.

    Not yet verified

    Use your judgement

Nobody has checked this insight yet. It remains clearly marked as unverified.

    Private

Your notes stay yours. Private insights are only visible to your team. They are never published, verified or shared with the journalist.
