A new QLD rumble in the jungle

Oz Buggy Tours is a brand-new subsidiary of Australia’s leading event-buggy company 1800 Buggies. With COVID-19 putting a halt to major events, a rapid pivot following 20 years provisioning Australia’s leading festivals, events and organisations with premium utility buggies has led to the launch of this all-new hands on, interactive and fun off-road experience. 

Any licenced driver from the age of 16 can now delve deep into the heart of into some of the most spectacular scenery our country has to offer, with the first location of Landcruiser National Park open for bookings in time for the School Holidays, corporate team building and Christmas bookings.

From fathers who are wanting a boys day out with their kids and friends, to families desperate to head out of the house, take in some fresh air and spend some quality bonding time to reconnect with their family, women wanting an envy-inducing adventure and an excuse to venture on a road trip with the girls to show the boys just how tough they really are, or couples wanting a date with a difference, a chance to get a little dirty and spin a new meaning on a rumble in the jungle, Oz Buggy Adventures offers a unique opportunity to test out more than driving skills. 

Founder and Director Pip Jewson said that this dream was years in the planning, catalysed by the current environment. “Our QLD manager Brad Smit and I have often taken our families camping, often thinking just how wonderful it would be to make these locations accessible to those without a four-wheel drive setup. COVID-19 allowed us to bring this to fruition, with the environment offering a safe, interactive and inclusive experience that by means of circumstance lends itself to social distancing.” He said. 

Boasting 200 km of tracks, Landcruiser Mountain Park is a 10,000-acre Wilderness Camping and 4wd park located less than two hours from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Offering the ideal first location for this soon-to-be national entity with 4X4 tracks for all levels of experience. Thrill-seekers will have the chance to traverse craggy terrain, pass through river crossings, and enjoy some spectacular scenery. For those wanting to extend their stay the property offers abundant wildlife along with freshwater fishing, swimming, bush walking, mountain climbing, and bird watching.

The tour is a two-hour experience, complete with a safety induction for the automatic buggies with power steering. Participants can drive alone, nominate two drivers, carry up to four passengers over the age of ten, or take the whole family out in the six-person buggy. 

Those not wishing to drive can opt to hire a driver, with thrill-seekers offered a chance to sit and enjoy a tour on the all new amphibious Argo buggy.  

QLD Manager Brad Smits said that the tours offered a challenge for anyone. “We did some testing with some local families to see if we could provide a safe experience that tested drivers and offered them a new and exciting experience, and we were delighted that all of them said that not only would they return, but that if offered great value for money and was exactly what they needed following the restrictions of isolation.” Said Smits. 

Locally based in Brisbane and Melbourne, Oz Buggy Tours is committed to providing locals with support through employment and accessible fun, as well as supporting the community by bringing in Aussies to experience something new and hopefully contribute to the local economy.
