Townsville dominate Canberra in huge victory at home

Game Summary


A dominant second half from the Townsville Fire propelled them to an 81-48 victory over the Canberra Capitals. 

 

The game started off as a tight matchup between the two teams with only 8 points separating them at the main break. However as the game entered the second half it was all Townsville Fire as the likes of Courtney Woods, Alicia Froling and Abbey Ellis put on an impressive display. The Fire kept Canberra to only 4 points in the third quarter as their defensive pressure was immense. 

 

Courtney Woods finished with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists, whilst Alicia Froling had 17 points of her own and Abbey Ellis added a handy 13 points. Saffron Shiels was huge for Townsville off the bench with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. 

 

Jade Melbourne as always was a force for Canberra scoring a team high 16 points and adding 5 assists.
