BRISBANE, Australia - 9 October 2024 - The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ), the peak body for local governments in Queensland, has partnered with Granicus, a leader in Australia and New Zealand government technology, to provide councils with digital tools to boost community liveability.
Queensland is the second largest state in Australia with a growing population of nearly 6 million and a wide variety of needs with unique decentralised communities and regions. LGAQ advocates for and champions the state's 77 councils and their communities.
From Torres Strait in the north to the Gold Coast in the south, local government covers every inch of Queensland's 1.8 million square kilometres.
LGAQ facilitates member use of digital tools that deliver valuable data insights to drive practical benefits to local communities and its partnership with Granicus brings new tools for governments supporting residents in all parts of Queensland.
"Our goal for the LGAQ is to help our councils improve their digital services and capability so that they can continue to find ways to enhance service to their communities and find efficiencies that will save time for everyone," LGAQ chief executive officer Alison Smith said.
"Granicus' suite of tools provide some great options for councils that will help them to offer more seamless online functions that Queensland communities want."
Granicus delivers a multi-channel approach to digital government and tailors its offerings, such as guided digitisation, online forms and surveys, and public consultation forums, to meet different community needs.
Granicus' OpenCities empowers governments to make digital citizen services more efficient by streamlining citizen experience. The platform's simple and intuitive design technology and analytics capability helps councils launch user-friendly websites and curate bespoke content.
"Granicus' solutions make services more accessible for councils so they can continue to focus on delivering community liveability services, infrastructure and programs," said Ms Smith.
"We are proud to support the people who serve the people to navigate digital transformation and better engage with the changing needs of their communities," said Gabriele Masili, Chief Customer Officer at Granicus. "We applaud the holistic approach to data LGAQ is taking in considering the diversity of experiences, successes, and challenges its member community faces."
LGAQ began its five-year engagement with Granicus in July 2024. This partnership will give LGAQ members the opportunity to leverage the Granicus OpenCities and OpenForms solutions, helping them uplift their digital services considerably.
Almost 60 per cent of local governments in Australia leverage Granicus' solutions to continuously improve community engagement. Granicus also offers its flagship community consultation solution, Engagement Cloud.
