BlaQ Ball 2024 - A night of queer Aboriginal excellence in NSW

Announcement posted by BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation 14 Apr 2024

LGBTQ+SB Aboriginal and Torres Strait gala dinner event, Sydney 10th May

Following the success of last year, BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation (BlaQ) have announced the BlaQ Ball Gala Dinner will return in 2024. The Inaugural event was created by the not-for-profit to raise awareness and funds for the Aboriginal Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + Sistergirl and Brotherboy (LGBTQ+SB) community.

For $250, tickets can be purchased to the event and include a three-course meal and drinks package for 4 and a half hours. The night will consist of entertainment and performances along with some incredibly moving speeches from mob and  LGBTQ+SB community leaders.

"I was surprised by the lack of top sophisticated galas for Aboriginal people and their allies, advocates, friends and families. BlaQ saw a gap in the entertainment opportunities available and sought to create the BlaQ Ball. This not only provides a night for glamour and extravagant socialising, but it also puts an important message front and center; funding for the Pride In Culture Hub" says BlaQ CEO, Jessica Bouyamourn.

All funds raised from the BlaQ Ball will go towards creating the Pride In Culture Hub, based in Redfern NSW. Hoping to launch in late 2024, the hub will provide a safe space for Queer mob and aims to provide access to culturally appropriate and useful services. The hub will act as an expansion to BlaQ's Living Well Program, aiding them to continue connecting communities and appropriate external services.

BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation follows a regular policy of Aboriginal procurement which they continue through into the production of the BlaQ Ball. The cooperation will prioritise suppliers and vendors from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and aim to deliver benefits back to Aboriginal owned businesses wherever possible.

There's also an opportunity to sponsor the BlaQ Ball. Sponsorship packages range from $1000 to $25,000 Our black tier $25,000 sponsorship level includes visuals of your brand at the event, a chance to present on stage and ten complimentary tickets. This level of support gives considerable exposure for your brand but means an even greater impact for LGBTQ+SB Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander community.

"Sponsoring the BlaQ Ball is a definite and genuine way of supporting an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) that is doing the work in the community, on the ground, every day. BlaQ is passionate about having a physical and virtual presence to hold space for queer Aboriginal people. Your sponsorship signals to your organisation that you're genuinely supporting NFPs in their work, advocating for inclusion, and often directly supports Reconciliation Action Plans" says BlaQ CEO, Jessica Bouyamourn.
