Announcement posted by BizCubed 14 Dec 2023
SYDNEY - 14 DEC 2023 - Australian data engineering firm, BizCubed is proud to announce the promotion of Rebecca Zeus from Executive Director to co-CEO in partnership with co-owner and founder, Zachary Zeus. Rebecca has formally assumed oversight of day-to-day operations and 51% ownership of the business.
"Bec has long been the driving force behind our business and its mode of operating," said Zachary. "BizCubed is now a woman-owned, woman-led business with Bec in the CEO role, guiding the team to build the next iteration of our data engineering operating systems and trust architecture services."
Partners in life and business, Zachary and Rebecca have each contributed their unique strengths to BizCubed. With 20+ years of experience engineering solutions to real-world problems, enabling data capability in large financial services organisations, Zachary maintains a strong focus on strategy and market-facing activities.
"Zach had the vision to launch BizCubed," said Rebecca, "and my strength has always been in executing that vision."
With over two decades of experience spanning industrial engineering and operational analytics, Rebecca, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, has been instrumental in overseeing BizCubed's enablement, infrastructure, finance, fulfilment, and HR operations.
Since 2017, as Executive Director, Rebecca led the operational delivery of the business as it doubled its revenue, developed and implemented its business values-based recruitment approach, and implemented an Information Security management system leading to ISO27001 certification.
"BizCubed is an engineering firm that focuses on building data ecosystems that work, and that help businesses like Bing Lee, Insignia, Boost Juice and AsureQuality make better decisions. We have created a methodology, fostered a culture and assembled a team that deliver on that promise for our customers," said Rebecca. "The work I have done to create a recruitment process that supports those efforts by enabling diversity in perspective, background, training and expertise has been particularly fulfilling."
"Zach has recently launched a second company and the timing is right to formalise the collaborative way in which we have already been running BizCubed, with me officially driving day-to-day business execution as CEO and majority owner," said Rebecca.
A Background in Impactful Engineering
Rebecca has always created world-class capability, explains Zachary.
"Bec was brought to Australia to bring South Pacific acetylene production facilities up to international standards. As part of a global sustainability governance group, she developed a global carbon traceability capability. Bec brings that same level of work to BizCubed and now our customers get recognised for creating world-class data capability," said Zachary.
With experience across the US, Europe and the South Pacific in industrial gases and operational analytics, Rebecca has assisted in chemical research for US organisations BD, BOC Gases and Cytec Industries. She's been a field engineer and fuel gases process engineer for Babcock &Wilcox and BOC Gases. The latter role took Zeus to Australia, where she was responsible for safety and engineering standards in the manufacturing of a highly flammable and explosive gas, acetylene.
Zeus brought unique expertise, which led to one of the more exciting moments of her career - blowing up acetylene cylinders at the military testing ground in Sydney, while working with a bomb squad to support the development of safe evacuation procedures and minimise community impacts."
Next Steps
"Under Bec's leadership, building on our proven data engineering capabilities and methodology, BizCubed is set to be a leading trust architecture firm with a focus on data processes,' said Zachary. "That means our customers will be able to confidently outcompete with data in a world with rapidly changing expectations about their Environmental, Social and Governance performance.
Zachary, whilst retaining the role of co-CEO, has launched a new business called PyxGlobal that is defining a new category - called Trust Architecture - to support sustainable global and local trade. Advising the UN/CEFACT and working across local and international agriculture, building and critical raw materials traceability programs, PyxGlobal is leading the global conversation on how to create sustainable supply chains.
