Announcement posted by Left Bank Art Group 15 Nov 2021
Carlene, the Director of successful interior design studio, Cedar and Suede, has teamed up with creative powerhouses, Left Bank Art Group - who have a 30-year history in cultivating artistic talent and producing and reproducing art - to deliver the Feels Like Home Collection.
“This collection explores iconic Australian towns and suburbs that evoke an innate human connection where it ‘Feels Like Home’,” said Carlene.
“To frame it simply, a home represents the true expression of your individuality with art serving as an ever-evolving, unpretentious, joy-evoking, thought-provoking portal to fond memories. What makes a home your own, if not that!”
The collaboration draws its talent from both Carlene’s creativity and Left Bank-signed artist, Dylan Cooper, who has created the eight original paintings for the limited series of prints that truly personify the brief.
The works capture the iconic backdrops of Burleigh, Kirra and New Farm in Queensland; Sydney, Tamarama Beach and Orange in New South Wales; as well as Melbourne and Daylesford in Victoria.
“It was super important to both of us that our locale-based prints not only resonated with people who have an affinity to the area, but also with those simply looking for a patriotic pop of colour in their home”, explained Dylan.
“Together, Carlene and I worked on place selection, sketches, and colour studies to find the right balance between representation, style and tone. With this established, I started on the artwork compositions using photoshopped landscapes that informed the final works being a mixed media format of charcoal and acrylics on canvas,” he said.
Left Bank Art Group’s vision is to elevate the work of artists, photographers and designers and the creative partnership is the perfect alignment for the company and Carlene Duffy, who share a common passion for art and grassroots artist development.
Spearheaded by Managing Director, Toby Simm, this moment marks a milestone for the company that recently unveiled its rebrand and transformation, while progressing plans for its expansion into Melbourne.
Toby shares how the collaboration with Carlene came to life and what this means for Left Bank’s new chapter.
“We strongly believe our creative collaboration between Carlene and Dylan to build the ‘Feels Like Home’ collection is a pure representation of our commitment to the industry, artists and design-savvy Australians who make it a practice to be house-proud.”
“We were fortunate enough to work with Carlene on a styling project a little while back, where we were engaged to build custom frames for a quirky, yet sophisticated collection of works Carlene had curated – it was her unorthodox design aesthetic that really caught my eye,” he said.
“With this in mind, we approached Carlene to collaborate with Dylan, who is a renowned Left Bank Art Group artist, and creatively direct this art initiative. She graciously accepted and the rest is history.”
Carlene said that in partnering with Left Bank Art Group, her goal was to encourage people to act somewhat intuitively when buying art for their home.
“My personal approach to art selection has always been disarmingly simple. I love it. I want it. Can I afford it? This flippant yet pragmatic style has resulted in an eclectic curation of pieces that connect me to a time and place that’s always happy in heart,” she said.
The limited-edition Feels Like Home Collection will be available for the public to purchase as framed canvas prints, exclusively through Left Bank Art Group’s website and start from $395.
