WSFM brings in new staffBy Jonas Lopez in Media News on Monday, 08th January 2018 at 3:20pm
ARN has welcomed new personnel to its WSFM station.
The company stated that Scott Muller has signed on as the station’s new content director, while Mike Hammond and Steven Fitton will be the respective morning and afternoon announcers. Jason Staveley stays on as music director and drive host.
Muller, Hammond, and Fitton have over 40 years’ combined experience in the broadcast circuit. Muller’s experience in creative and talent development helped NOVA FM rise to the top of the Sydney charts and make Capital Radio London in England grow once more. Hammond previously helmed award-winning shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and Newcastle, and even co-hosted athletics show Gladiators on Seven. Fitton formerly worked with Austereo and 96FM.
“I’m excited to be welcoming Scott, Mike and Steve to WSFM. They bring a wealth of experience but also a fresh dynamic to the station, which is key to our strategy to re-energise ARN and position WSFM and the whole network for even greater success in 2018 and beyond. Scott has great plans to continue to grow on the success of WSFM and I know the whole team will join me in welcoming him,” beamed ARN national content director Duncan Campbell.

FitzSimons joins ABCBy Jonas Lopez in Media News on Friday, 13th July 2018 at 11:31am
The ABC has recruited veteran Fairfax Media man Peter FitzSimons to be part of the crew.
FitzSimons will be tasked as a guest reporter on ABC’s Foreign Correspondent, with his assignment being flying to New Zealand to interview one of the 1,300 Kiwis deported from Australia per changes to the Migration Act. He will also discuss the issue with Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton. The episode is slated to air next week.
FitzSimons is currently covering the international sports scene for various outlets. Although his guest reporter assignment is a paid one-off opportunity, he told The Australian’s Stephen Brook that he is donating the paycheque to charity. His entry comes as the ABC is facing internal challenges, with the retrenchment of 22 journalists from the newsroom to make way for digital-savvy reporters a big sticking point.
