Today’s Ten: PAC to review SEBI amid mounting allegations

By Pradeep Damodaran in Media News on
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) headed by senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha member K.C. Venugopal will hold a performance review of regulatory bodies established by the Act of Parliament, such as the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The PAC will also audit “fees, tariffs, user charges and so on” levied at public infrastructure such as airports. Currently, seven Indian airports are managed by the Adani Group, reported Sobhana K Nair for The Hindu. Coming in the backdrop of the Hindenburg Report on alleged irregularities by the SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, including a stake in obscure offshore entities used in what it alleged was an "Adani money siphoning scandal", the move has been triggered following a sustained Opposition campaign demanding a thorough probe. The SEBI chairperson is also likely to be summoned by the PAC during its review process, reported Liz Mathew for The Indian Express. In response to the allegations made by the US-based research

“Untitled Goose Game” perfect game to write on says O’Connor

By Will McLennan in Media News on
Journalist James O’Connor says that the 2019 Untitled Goose Game was the perfect game to cover as part of his maiden book, which explores the game’s development and the wider Australian game development industry.  “The more research I did, the more people I spoke to, the more I learned about the making of Untitled Goose Game, the more I realised that I'd pitched a perfect game to write a book about because the story of its development and especially the team that made the game was so interesting,” O’Connor told Influencing. O’Connor spent a year researching and writing the book, and came across story after story of curiosity, right from the game’s inception. “The book is full of interviews with people, all of the people involved in the making of Untitled Goose Game, but also many of the folks who helped them along the way, some of their collaborators, some of their friends, a few people in other countries as well.” “They [House House] had an internal Slack s

By Staff writer in Media News on

In a statement released by the ACM National House Committee, it was revealed that during a town hall meeting with staff, the management shared the news, citing declining revenue as the primary reason.  In an email to staff, ACM Managing Director Tony Kendall confirmed the cuts, attributing them to the “loss of federal government advertising revenue, the loss of payments from Meta,” and “reduced revenue from display and classifieds advertising, as well as print circulation.” A voluntary redundancy consultation period is open until September 11, with final decisions to be communicated by September 13. The last day for affected staff will be September 20.
