Vimla Patil, former editor of Femina, passed away in Mumbai on Sunday. She was 91.
Always a "South Mumbai Woman", Vimla completed journalism in London and started her career as a part-time journalist and trainee during her academic years. After returning to India, she joined the Femina team in 1959 as an assistant editor. Since then, she has been associated with the magazine till 1993 (Influencing India has not independently verified this information).
Best known for her role as the editor of Femina, India’s premier women’s magazine for over two decades, Vimala had a long and illustrious career as a journalist and has played a key role in bringing the Miss India pageant to India.
