UNICEF, PIB, AIIMS Nagpur train journalists on childhood NCD reporting

UNICEF India, PIB (Western Zone), and AIIMS Nagpur concluded a two-day media workshop in Nagpur on July 14 to improve reporting on childhood non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with over 30 journalists from western India attending.
Sessions covered NCDs in children aged 5–19 — from diagnosis gaps in rural and tribal areas to rising obesity, diabetes, and mental health issues in cities. Speakers included officials from PIB, AIIMS Nagpur, DGHS, and UNICEF, who stressed accurate, stigma-free reporting and early detection.
Journalists toured AIIMS Nagpur's Centre of Excellence for childhood NCDs, met doctors and patients, and worked on story ideas using government health data resources like PIB, NFHS/SRS surveys, and the POSHAN t...
