TRAI reviews broadcast regulations amid rising digital competition

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is reviewing the regulatory framework for the broadcast sector as it faces increasing competition from digital platforms. Broadcasters have been asked to submit concerns and recommendations by April 5, 2025, as part of ongoing consultations.
According to media reports, key stakeholders, including the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF) and the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA), are expected to provide inputs on necessary regulatory changes. Further meetings are planned as TRAI works on a revised framework to align with industry demands and market developments.
