Madurai Sessions Court convicts nine cops in Sathankulam double murder case
Kaushik Kannan for The Times of India reported that Nearly six years after a father and son were tortured and killed by police in custody at Sathankulam police station in Tamil Nadu, a sessions court in Madurai has found all nine police personnel accused in the case guilty of double murder.
The victims, P Jeyaraj and his son J Beniks, were picked up on June 19, 2020, on charges of having kept their shop open beyond the deadline during the Covid-19 lockdown. They were brutally assaulted by the policemen at night and were lodged in a sub-jail the next day. Beniks died of injuri...
