Simon Pristel resigns as Herald Sun editor [UPDATED]

News Limited has confirmed that Simon Pristel has resigned as editor of the Herald Sun to “pursue other interests”.
Pristel has been in charge of the daily edition of the Herald Sun for four years, and said in a statement: “I am proud to have led the Herald Sun through an extraordinary period of transformation in the media business, and after 23 years in print it is time for a new challenge.”
It’s been a News Limited-dominated career for Pristel, who started out at the The Herald as a copy boy and, after it merged with The Sun News-Pictorial, joined the Herald Sun. He also had News Limited stints at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, the Canberra Press Gallery and was previously editor of the Sunday edition of the Herald Sun.
