Simon Marnie axed by ABC Radio amid programming shake-up

ABC Radio Sydney weekend host Simon Marnie has been axed as part of a major programming overhaul, following the recent departure of Sarah Macdonald.
Marnie confirmed the news on Instagram, saying, “This came as a shock and I am still processing what it means for me.” The decision marks another significant change in ABC’s 2025 lineup.
According to Mumbrella, the decision comes amid changes to ABC’s programming lineup. Ben Latimer, ABC’s director of audio, explained in an all-staff email that the reshuffling aims to adapt to evolving audience expectations and increase the network’s competitiveness in a crowded radio market.
He noted the changes were part of a strategy to balance familiar voices with fresh talent and expand the broadcaster’s reach.
