Senior journalist Rafiqul ‘Bhaiti’ Rahman passes away

Senior journalist Rafiqul Rahman, affectionately known as Bhaiti Rahman, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. He was 53.
Rahman had been a prominent voice in Nazira’s media landscape for nearly three decades, reporting extensively across the co‑district. He served as Vice‑President of the Nazira Press Club and the Nazira Freelance Journalists’ Association, and was also an adviser to the Nazira Sangabadik Mancha.
A resident of Simaluguri town, Rahman combined journalism with entrepreneurship as proprietor of the Jyoti Cinema Hall. He was associated with Dainik Janambhumi as a senior journalist and, more recently, worked as the Simaluguri correspondent of Dainik Asam.
