Nine announces 85 job cuts across mastheads

Nine has announced a new round of job cuts, eliminating up to 85 jobs across the Sydney Morning Herald, the AFR, The Age, Brisbane Times, and WAtoday. These job cuts affect newsrooms, print operations, and audience and commercial growth divisions, with several involuntary redundancies reported.
This decision follows Nine CEO Mike Sneesby’s June announcement that 70 to 90 jobs would be cut to address revenue losses from the collapsed Meta deal and challenges in the advertising market. A Nine spokesperson confirmed the cuts, stating they are part of efforts to reshape the publishing business for a sustainable future.
