Lack of vendor support plaguing tech media space, says Hague

Creative Content’s founder and sole operator, David Hague, says the glaring issue currently facing independent publishers is a lack of vendor support.  “​​The biggest problem facing publishers today is a lack of support from vendors, which applies explicitly to independents like me.”, Hague told Influencing.  “What really hurts me is that so many vendors and the PR people in the past were quite happy to open their wallets and give out marketing and advertising dollars. But these days, they seem to think we'll do the same job out of the goodness of our hearts.” Hague believes the industry needs a seismic shift in the relationship between PRs and journalists.  “There needs to be more equity in the industry. New office bearers take charge at the Chennai Press Club after record polls

After 25 years, elections were held at the Chennai Press Club on Sunday in an organised and disciplined manner amid tight security provided by the Chennai city police. A total of 1371 members cast their votes recording a turnout of 91.27 per cent.  The polling began at 10 am and concluded at 5 pm after which the votes were counted and the winners declared by late evening. The Special Coordination Committee, which had organised the polls conducted by Election Officer Justice V. Bharathidasan, retired judge of the Madras High Court, ensured that all arrangements were in place for peaceful conduct of the elections.  A total of 44 candidates were in the fray for the posts of a president, two vice-presidents, a general secretary, a treasurer, a joint secretary and five committee members. ABC Victoria's Statewide Mornings presenter Jonathon “Jonno” Kendall has announced he will leave the role to relocate with his family to the Surf Coast, according to a media release from the organisation.  Since joining in 2022, Jonno played a key role in building the program’s success boosting audience engagement through outside broadcasts in places like Bendigo, Morwell, and Churchill as well as projects like the Statewide Public Transport Special. Jonno, who will present his final show on Friday, December 20, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to host, highlighting the privilege of sharing listeners' stories on air. He will take up a short-term role with ABC Geelong in January and joked about seeking gardening advice for his new home’s large garden and chook pen. Regional editor Victoria Toni Hetherington thanked Jonno for his contributions and wished him the best. Statewide Mornings will return in January with a new presenter.  

Marty Haynes to step back from i98 FM Breakfast Show

After 30 years in breakfast radio, Marty Haynes will step back from his early morning show in 2025, Radio Info reported. He has hosted the i98 FM Breakfast Show in Wollongong since 2002.  Haynes will continue to support the station and its annual Illawarra Convoy, which has raised over $27 million for local families and charities. His dedication to the community earned him an Order of Australia Medal in 2014. Expressing gratitude for his time with i98 FM, Marty stated he’s ready to "sleep in" but will always cherish the memories. i98 FM Station Manager, Tia Davis, praised Marty as a "legend" and a "beloved figure" in the Illawarra community. His departure comes as i98 FM and rival Wave FM undergo significant changes, including the recent departure of other high-profile local presenters. Marty’s final show will be on Friday, 20 December.
