Jared Lynch assumes The Australian tech editorship
By Staff writers in Media News on Wednesday, 27th September 2023 at 11:44amThe Australian has hired from within to replace its outgoing technology editor, David Swan, promoting business journalist Jared Lynch into the role.
Like Swan, Lynch is Melbourne-based so the outlet's tech coverage remains split between Melbourne and Sydney, where reporter Joseph Lam is based.
Lynch will start the role next month, coinciding with Swan's defection to Nine where he will take over the technology rounds for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
Lynch has gone the other way, His first stint in journalism was at Fairfax where he reported for The Herald and Age, before taking a corporate communications roles at Australia Post and Healthscope.
He returned to journalism at The Australian in 2019, where he has worked as a business reporter.
