Katharine Murphy, the esteemed political editor at Guardian Australia, has announced her departure from the news outlet to take up a new position in Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s office.
This significant career move was revealed in a brief statement by Murphy on X, formerly known as Twitter, where she disclosed her transition from journalism to a role with the Labor government.
“I will be joining the office of the Prime Minister. I want to say farewell by thanking Australians who support good journalism. It has never been more necessary. Thank you for your company. It has been an honour,” read her tweet.
