The Tripura Journalists’ Union staged a silent protest at the Agartala Press Club on December 22, condemning recent attacks on journalists, media offices and minority communities in Bangladesh. As a symbolic gesture, participants covered their mouths with black cloth. The union demanded the release of detained journalists, reconstruction of damaged media offices and assurances of safety for press workers to operate freely, Tripura Chronicles reported.  

WPP has secured Jaguar Land Rover’s integrated global agency mandate following a nine‑month review, in one of the year’s most closely contested pitches, Campaign reported. The automaker has entered a period of exclusivity with WPP for marketing services across its four core brands — Defender, Discovery, Jaguar and Range Rover. Indian-origin journalist Shruti Tripathi Chopra has been honoured with the prestigious Freedom of the City of London, one of the world’s oldest ceremonial awards, dating back to the 1200s. The recognition was given for her contribution to financial journalism and her efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the global finance industry. According to The Times of India, the award has previously been conferred on prominent global leaders, including India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and British statesman Winston Churchill. The ceremony took place at the Guildhall in London, with Chopra’s family in attendance. Chopra is the Editor-in-Chief of Financial News and Private Equity News, two London-based Dow Jones publications. Arrested on March 20, 2023, Mehraj is currently lodged in a Delhi jail. The federation warned that treating journalism as a crime sends a chilling message to reporters and undermines democratic values. It also expressed solidarity with Mehraj’s family and highlighted broader concerns over raids, summons and device seizures targeting journalists, citing the recent case of The Wi
