Cosima Marriner takes over Buffini’s role at AFR

Cosima Marriner, former deputy editor of The Sydney Morning Herald and editor of The Sun-Herald, has been appointed editor of The Australian Financial Review (AFR), succeeding Fiona Buffini, according to a report by MediaWeek.
Marriner's appointment comes shortly after James Chessell was named editor-in-chief, following Michael Stutchbury’s departure. Buffini will remain with the AFR to oversee its digital transition.
Expressing her excitement, Marriner stated, "I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to edit Australia’s best masthead and to lead the nation’s most talented newsroom. I look forward to building on the incredible legacy of Stutch and Fiona, working closely with James to elevate the Financial Review further."
