Capital Brief expands with key hire and growth strategy

Capital Brief, the business and politics publisher, has strengthened its editorial team with the appointment of Michael Pelly, former legal editor at The AFR, Mumbrella reported.
The move aligns with the publication’s broader expansion plans, bringing its staff count to 30, with additional hires, including a deputy editor and senior correspondent on the horizon.
CEO Chris Janz emphasised that Capital Brief’s focus remains on quality journalism over short-term profits. “We are growing, and we’re ahead of the plan. The beauty of this model is that if we add journalists, we add subscribers… we have proven this model works,” he said.
