Andrew Thorpe has commenced a new role as a digital journalist at ABC news.  Prior to joining the ABC, Thorpe was a producer at The Canberra Times, where he managed a team at digital and print production.  He has also worked as a journalist and digital producer at News Corp Australia covering crime and politics at News Regional Media’s daily newspaper, The Observer in Gladstone, Queensland.  He began his career as a journalist at APN Australian Regional Media at Banana shire’s weekly newspaper, The Central Telegraph, in central Queensland.   

Brisbane’s iconic radio announcer Bob Gallagher returns to 4BH to host the Classic Hits 4BH breakfast.  Joining Gallagher to host the evening show between 7 pm and midnight every weeknight will be Former Triple M Brisbane Program Director Scott Menz. Journalist Elisabeth Champion has commenced as a news editor at The Border Watch.  Prior to joining the masthead, she was a journalist at Australian Community Media from 2020.   Champion has also worked as an editorial assistant before becoming a journalist at NewsCorp Australia for more than four years.  She has also worked as a journalism intern at News Corp, a cadet journalist at the Leader newspaper and a producer at FiveAA radio, organizing pre-records and on-air interviews.   

DailyMail Australia has appointed Natalie Wolfe to the role of assistant news editor. Wolfe joins the masthead after working as a journalist at news.com.au where she covered current affairs, live blogs, court stories, travel news and features. She has also worked as a freelance content producer at publications such as Urban Walkabout and financial crime solutions. Wolfe has also completed her internship at WaveFM Wollongong as a news radio producer.   

Sports Entertainment Network has announced two more presenters for its forthcoming Queensland launch, as 4KQ signs off tonight. Channel 7 senior sports reporter Ben Davis (pictured) and broadcaster Alissa Smith have joined the station. Davis will host Mornings with Ben Davis each Monday from 9 am – 12 pm, covering Queensland’s weekend sporting results and news. The Seven Network has welcomed ITV Studios’ Majella Wiemers to the new role of head of entertainment.  Wiemers will be responsible for the network’s leading entertainment programs including The Voice, Australian Idol, and AGT, reporting to Seven’s director of production, Andrew Backwell. Backwell said that he has known Wiemers for many years and is delighted that she is joining the network.  “She is one of the best television production executives in Australia and is a great addition to our network,” Backwell said.  Wiemers said that she is excited to be returning to the network. “I cannot wait to bring all my skills across all facets of production to this role and to Seven,” she said. Nine network has promoted Liana Dubois to the newly created role of chief marketing officer. Dubois will be responsible for the network’s total marketing and brand strategy to accelerate the audience and revenue growth across television, radio, publishing and digital, reporting to CEO Mike Sneesby.
