MIB enforces self-declaration requirement for ads

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) convened a crucial meeting in New Delhi with industry stakeholders to address the recent mandate by the Supreme Court. The order necessitates advertisers and ad agencies to furnish a self-declaration certificate before airing or publishing advertisements across TV, print, digital, and radio platforms. Officials from the ministry emphasised the importance of compliance with the directive, urging stakeholders to promptly submit the required self-declaration certificate via the Broadcast Seva Portal. This implementation is slated to take effect on or after June 18, 2024. According to PIB, the self-declaration certificate serves to affirm that the advertised content refrains from any misleading claims and aligns with pertinent regulatory standards. These standards encompass Rule 7 of the Cable Television Networks Rules and the Norms of the Journalistic Conduct set forth by the Press Council of India.

Source  PIB Dr Loganathan Murugan assumed charge as Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting yesterday.  In a statement to the Press, Dr Murugan expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reposing confidence in him. “Government is committed to Garib Kalyan and this is exemplified by the Cabinet decision to build 3 crore rural and urban houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,” he stated. Dr Murugan emphasised the importance of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting while executing Government policies by acting as a communication bridge between the Government and the people of the country. Secretary Shri Sanjay Jaju and other senior officials of the Ministry and Media Units under the Ministry welcomed Dr Murugan.

Subhajit Sengupta, Associate Vice President of Digital Video Strategy at Times Network, has announced his departure from the network after a three-year stint. Sengupta took to LinkedIn to bid farewell to the team while expressing gratitude to his colleagues as he transitioned out of Times Network.  “It has been an amazing term here, building the digital news video verticals from scratch, building a cohesive centralised social strategy and getting high off-platform growth with increased profitability,” he added.  Pranav Bakshi, head of digital video strategy and partnerships at Network18 and former senior vice president and head of digital video, strategy, partnerships, and marketing at Times Network, wished Sengupta good luck in his future endeavours.  “May the days of the crazy team build-up and recruitment continue!
