ABC’s Political Editor Probyn made ‘redundant’

The outgoing political editor said he has had a “tremendous privilege” of working with some wonderful people at the ABC but the decision has left him “gobsmacked”.
“Only the political editor at the ABC would understand the scrutiny that comes with this role,” Probyn said. “I struggle to understand the direction the ABC is going in that it could consider the role of political editor not needed.”
Managing director of the ABC, David Anderson told staff in an email that the ABC is planning to boost its investment in “digital transformation” to meet audiences’ needs.
