3WRB closes down

Melbourne community station 3WRB Stereo974 is no longer transmitting, reported RadioInfo.
The station’s Mandarin/Cantonese announcer, Raymond Chow, said the management called a staff meeting to announce the closure because of a lack of funds.
The station primarily operates via Community Broadcast Fund grants, but Fund reforms over the past two years have cost the station valuable grant allocations.
Stereo 974’s Geelong Road site in Brooklyn was also marked for redevelopment and staff figured they no longer have the money to finance a relocation. The station began airing in North Sunshine in 1978.
