New Multi-Platform Solution Takes the Lead in Enabling E-commerce
IBM/Lotus business partner Presence Online is breaking new ground in content management with its new Aptrix Multi-Platform solution, being launched at this weeks IBM Solutions 2001 conference in the US.
Australian company Presence Online is an alliance partner of IBM/Lotus. Its award-winning Aptrix Multi-Platform and AptrixConnect solutions are distributed via the companys international offices as well as by IBM/Lotus.
Already a leader in the field of distributed content management, application integration and personalisation, Presence Onlines latest content management offering supports Domino, Java and WebSphere customers in their quest to deliver content in a high throughput manner.
As more companies venture into e-commerce and e-business so too is the Internet moving away from its initial brochureware phase, explains Presence Online Director Tim Birdsall. Companies are now demanding sophisticated content management solutions that are easy to use, incorporate workflow security control and boast a high degree of personalisation. Clients want to drive their internal and external clients to the site, and they want them to keep coming back.
Presence Onlines Aptrix Multi-Platform solution, he says, is meeting these needs by making websites more compelling to visitors and ensuring that sites efficiently support business needs.
Aptrix Multi-Platform allows users to define rules for personalisation when they visit websites. They can tailor the content that is presented to them using categories and document types. Web pages can be personalized according to user profiling or business rules. The presentation layer can be personalised while the core content remains the same.
With ease of use another primary consideration in selecting a content management system, according to Forrester Research, Aptrix Multi-Platforms easy-to-use web browser, MS Word or Notes interface allows all content distributors, regardless of technical skills, to quickly create and submit content. Ease of use extends to building, publishing, navigation, integration and maintenance.
Many web publishing environments are labour-intensive and require a degree of knowledge, especially when e-commerce and collaboration are involved. Its a huge job to keep pertinent data on websites and so many people just dont do it, says Mr Birdsall. With Aptrix Multi-Platform, however, its infinitely possible to remove the necessity for technical skills. Anyone who does something in the business can do that on the website too.
According to Forrester Research, organisations are also particularly keen to ensure all content is correct and approved before publishing, and to this end Aptrix Multi-Platform offers sophisticated workflow security control. Managers can easily monitor all content, page designs and components within the various approval processes, while users can be automatically notified of their individual tasks by email.
We have already made substantial inroads, not only with our content management solution but also our AptrixConnect integration solution, and see our participation in IBMs Solutions 2001 event as an ideal opportunity to consolidate that position, says Mr Birdsall. Since our inception six years ago, we have acknowledged the importance of being a global player.
Having already secured a $7.5-million equity investment from Deutsche Ericsson Technology Fund, the company is now pursuing a second round of funding, which will help it to continue to achieve its goals and bears testimony to the soundness of its solutions.
In its short history, Presence Online has partnered with more than 10 global players including not only IBM and Lotus, but also Microsoft, and has developed a client base spanning some of the largest global corporations.
