Melbourne Business Takes Message of Positive Lifestyle Shifts to Those That Need it Most

Announcement posted by Saint Belford. 14 Feb 2018

One of the most important virtues of charities and not-for-profit organisations worldwide is that help doesn’t stop at the basic needs. Whilst there are a variety of charities across Australia providing food, shelter, and other necessities to those in need, there are organisations that are looking to take the next step in allowing those individuals a second chance.

Organisations like Fitted For Work are dedicated to providing women in crisis situations the tools they need for returning to and maintaining employment; a cause that has touched the hearts of small business owners across Melbourne. One such venture is Saint Belford; a new company that has taken their ethos of positive lifestyle shifts to those that need it most.

To assist in the transitional period associated with returning to work, and to ensure that products with minor cosmetic imperfections still go to good use, Saint Belford has donated over 200 copies of Curation 2018, their flagship motivational lifestyle planner, to Fitted For Work. Started in 2005, Fitted For Work has assisted over 24,000 women experiencing disadvantage to courageously break through barriers to get and keep work. Continuing this trend toward positive lifestyle changes, more than 200 copies will be going to Wear For Success; a not-for-profit organisation providing work skills training and professional clothing to those who are struggling to return to the workforce.

Who is Saint Belford?

Started in 2017, Saint Belford is looking to provide its customers with the tools they need to improve their lifestyle. To achieve this lofty goal, they have looked to reinvent the 2018 diary; creating a planner that helps to both record the past and inspire the future. With a hugely successful first printing, a portion of profits from the Curation 2018 diary is being donated to Beyond Blue and R U OK?, two companies who have been prolific in their journey to improve the living situations of those dealing with mental illness.

Inspired by co-founder Alex Phillips’ own experiences with professional burnout and mental illness, the intentions behind the Curation 2018 diary come from a very personal place.

“I was once the girl who hustled aggressively and neglected her health, both physical and mental aspects. Burning out and being forced to take time off work - that was a big wake up call for me” reflected Alex Phillips, Co-Founder of Saint Belford.

Having witnessed the paralysing effects of burnout firsthand, Alex’s motivation to help others proactively shift their behaviour soared, and Saint Belford was born.

“We all need a reminder to slow down and prioritise our wellbeing,” said Tom, Co-Founder of Saint Belford. The brand advocates the idea of scheduling things in rather than trying to find the time for it.

Both Alex and Tom understand the power that small steps can have in changing a person’s life, and with more charitable and not-for-profit collaborations planned for future projects, the hope is that more businesses will understand the broad positive impact that they can have. This movement, which can be seen in businesses shifting their focus toward sustainability and humanitarian work, is a fantastic first step in improving quality of life for those that have found themselves in unfavourable conditions.
