Announcement posted by Australian Book Industry Awards: 19 May 2016 16 May 2016

Australian Book Industry Awards attracts 51% year-on-year growth in sponsorship and marketing partners
This week’s Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIAs) has cover-to-cover culture power in the room, attracting phenomenal growth in sponsorship for the annual night where books are at the centrepiece of celebrations.

Hosted by Kitty Flanagan with presenters including Richard Flanagan, Jonathan Franzen, Gloria Steinem and Jeanette Winterson; the guest list includes an international and Australian A-list of literature, politics, entertainment, media, fashion, sport and food all uniting to celebrate the best talent behind the best books of the year.

Shortlisted authors set to attend include Rosie Batty, Stephanie Bishop, Richard Glover, Andy Griffiths, Fiona McIntosh, George Megalogenis, Michael Robotham, Magda Szubanski, Rosie Waterland, Charlotte Wood and Tim Winton.

Now in its sixteenth year, the gala ceremony has obvious appeal for sponsors and marketing partners, but ultimately it is about capturing the highly-coveted home audience, beginning with the core ‘Avid Readers’ - predominately female aged 35+, tertiary educated and employed in higher income brackets.

Targeted, free media coverage for the 2015 ABIAs was valued at $1.2M with the added ignition of social media channels and targeted marketing campaign seeing the night reach estimated 7.5 million Australian readers of all ages. That is set to rise this year.

Bauer Media’s The Australian Women’s Weekly is welcomed as media partner, covering the event live on social media and across their print and digital channels.

JCDecaux is partnering with the ABIAs for the third year running. The winning ABIA books of the year will be boosted by a major outdoor advertising campaign on JCDecaux's digital network, to reach an estimated total of 3.5 million commuters.

Media Super is a new partner, and a perfect fit for the book community. Media Super is the industry superannuation fund designed for Australia's print, media, entertainment and arts workers. Media Super is a strong supporter of the arts across Australia.

Audible Australia has joined as a new partner, reflecting one of the emerging trends of the past year towards audiobooks. Leading provider of premium digital audiobooks Audible.com.au offers an extensive range of this year’s ABIA shortlisted titles, many of which are voiced by Australian narrators. The audiobook category continues to  experience rapid growth as Australians embrace audiobooks as a popular form of entertainment.

Dymocks continues their close partnership with the ABIAs, and will promote the books of the year to their devoted following of Dymocks Booklovers.

Strategic alignments with IBS Bookmaster, Derwent Pencils, Avant Card and John Fisher Printing complement ongoing partnerships with Booktopia, TitlePage, Books+Publishing, Nielsen, and Simpsons Solicitors.
