Tasfreight selects OneAdvanced to digitise workforce management, rostering and payroll operations across five states
Announcement posted by OneAdvanced 11 Dec 2025
OneAdvanced is partnering with Tasmanian Freight Services Pty Ltd (Tasfreight), one of Australia's leading logistics and transport operators, to modernise its workforce management, rostering and payroll operations. The move replaced legacy paper-based processes with an integrated digital platform that delivers real-time visibility, improved accuracy and faster workflows for teams spread across five states.
Established in Devonport, Tasmania, in May 1984 primarily to provide a fast and efficient freight service between Tasmania and Melbourne, Tasfreight manages a high-volume, high-velocity national operation, with teams coordinating linehaul, warehousing, last-mile delivery and customer service. Tasfreight currently employs more than 200 permanent staff and over 40 subcontractors.
Previously, the company relied on manual paper-based forms, faxed paperwork, and email chains to allocate jobs, approve hours, and manage rostering. With the business expanding nationally, these manual processes created bottlenecks, inconsistent information flow and unnecessary administrative overhead.
According to Stuart Nicholls, company secretary at Tasfreight, the shift to a digital workforce management system was essential as the company continued to scale.
"We had reached a point where paper-based workflows were slowing down the business. Staff would have to fax or email job sheets and timesheets across different depots, which made it harder to maintain accuracy, keep everyone updated and respond quickly to customer needs. Moving to the OneAdvanced workforce management platform, Time and Attendance, means we now have everything in one place, automated and accessible in real time. It gives us the visibility we need to run a modern logistics operation," said Stuart Nicholls.
The company's national footprint also made rostering increasingly complex. Managing coverage across multiple sites, shifts and skill sets required hours of manual work for supervisors each week.
Malcolm Dart, operations manager at Tasfreight, said: "The OneAdvanced workforce management system has transformed how the business manages rostering of jobs. Previously, rosters were worked out at an individual level, which was time-consuming and error-prone because everything was done manually. It is now generated at the touch of a button. Our teams can see their shifts instantly, managers can make rapid adjustments and we can allocate resources far more efficiently, which has totally changed the way we operate."
This digital transformation is part of Tasfreight's wider strategy to improve operational consistency, strengthen compliance and equip its workforce with tools that support growth.
Adam Bowles, Australian country director at OneAdvanced, said: "Tasfreight plays a critical role in keeping goods moving across Australia and we are thrilled to partner with a business that is so focused on innovation and service quality. By moving from manual systems to an integrated digital workforce management platform, Tasfreight is reducing administrative load, improving compliance and giving its teams the information they need to make better decisions."
