There are only two options, either life arose by random chance or life arose by intelligent design.

'We can assume the first life form on earth was a simple bacterium. If life occurred by chance, the essential complex molecules, like proteins and DNA, that were needed by this first bacteria must have been assembled by chance at more or less the same place and time. No selective pressure existed to encourage the 'right' molecules to be formed, as life at this stage did not exist.

We can use simple mathematics to calculate:

(i) the chance of amino acids randomly assembling the correct way to make the very first essential proteins and;

(ii) the chance of nucleotides randomly assembling the correct way to make the very first correctly sequenced DNA molecule or bacterial chromosome.

The probability of the first essential proteins and the first bacterial chromosome being correctly assembled by random chance is impossibly small.

There are about 10 to the power of 80 atoms in the universe. If this number is expressed as a fraction - i.e. 1/1080 , this number is larger than the probability life occurred by chance.

Domigan has derived a mathematical formula that summarizes the probability of life occurring by random chance; Ξ = YM(20-PX)4-L . Domigan terms this formula the Deity Constant, the title of his new geopolitical thriller. He asserts that the formula is proof of a Deity, God or a higher power, as the architect of this intelligent design.

The Deity Constant is 400 pages of fiction; two pages of nonfiction. The two pages of nonfiction are the mathematical and scientific proof that intelligent design was required for life on earth.

"In writing this novel, I wanted to explore what happens when a belief system becomes a fact-based reality," says Domigan. "In a world where data is sacred, what becomes of the Devine?"
