Fat Zebra Acquires SecurePay from Australia Post, Marking Third Acquisition in 14 Months

Announcement posted by Fat Zebra 01 Apr 2025

Fat Zebra, a leading Australian digital payments company, today announced the acquisition of SecurePay from Australia Post – its third acquisition in 14 months – accelerating its growth and solidifying its leadership in the local payments market.

SecurePay, one of the earliest online payment providers in Australia, services over 35,000 businesses, and since 2010 has been a part of the wider Australia Post business. Its legacy of providing all-in-one payment solutions to businesses nationwide aligns with Fat Zebra's mission to simplify digital payments for merchants of all sizes.

The acquisition follows Fat Zebra's strategic purchases of customer data platform Adatree in February 2024, and SMB and embedded platform payments provider Pin Payments in December 2024, positioning the company as a dominant force across enterprise, platform, and small business payments.

Pred Dragila, Founder and CEO of Fat Zebra, said the deal reflects the company's commitment to growth, innovation, and delivering value to Australian businesses.

"This is more than an acquisition — it's a strategic move in Australian payments. SecurePay's long-standing merchant relationships are a valuable part of the ecosystem, and by combining them with Fat Zebra's modern infrastructure, we're delivering a more powerful platform for Australian businesses," said Pred

"With SecurePay, Pin Payments and Adatree now part of the Fat Zebra family, we've built a unified organisation that serves businesses at every stage, from startups and SME to enterprise, connected directly or via our partner ecosystem," he said.

SecurePay customers will benefit from Fat Zebra's modern payment infrastructure, which supports over 250 million transactions annually across more than 38,000 merchants and platforms, including Sportsbet, RACQ, PayPal, Zip, Aussie Broadband, and Revolution Sport.

"We're building a homegrown payments powerhouse, with support and staff based in Australia, that's agile, reliable, and focused on supporting merchants to scale and thrive in a digital-first world," said Pred.

Fat Zebra is working closely with Australia Post to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for all SecurePay merchants, with no disruption to service.

"Our number one priority is continuity and confidence. SecurePay customers can expect a high-quality service backed by Fat Zebra's speed, scalability, and stability," said Pred.

"We're building the future of payments in Australia, and this acquisition strengthens our position as the leading local domestic payments provider," he said.

The acquisition is aligned with Fat Zebra's vision to become the go-to payments partner for every business in Australia, from fast-growing startups to major digital brands, by offering advanced technology, industry-best approval rates, reduced fraud, optimised cost of acceptance, and personalised customer support.
