Owen is celebrated for his international career, which saw him score 223 career goals and was awarded the prestigious Ballon d'Or in 2001. He is now involved in horse racing and was last in Melbourne when he brought one of his horses from his Manor House Stables in Cheshire, to participate in the Melbourne Cup.
