The Townsville Fire progress into the Grand Final series

Announcement posted by Basketball Australia 26 Feb 2025

24/25 WNBL Season - Semi Finals

Game Summary

The Townsville Fire swept the Perth Lynx in the Semi Final series to get their ticket to the Grand Final. It was a confident Townsville lineup who put their heads down and worked perfectly as a team. It was a night to forget for the Perth Lynx, as nothing seemed to be executed the way they wanted.

It was an all-team performance by the Fire, with six players scoring in double digits. Abbey Ellis was impressive with 18 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds. The team were shooting at 56% from the field, compared to 37% from Perth which set up their monumental win.

Despite their loss, Ally Wilson again was their star, leading all scorers with 24 points, 7 assists and 6 steals. The Lynx desperately needed their other players to stand up, but it wasn't their night. Laeticia Amihere got in foul trouble early, which limited her minutes and ability to impact the game.

The Perth Lynx would be disappointed with their finals performance, but they can be proud of their season as a whole as second-placed finishers.

The Townsville Fire now look to rest and recover for their Grand Final series against either the Bendigo Spirit or the Sydney Flames. That game takes place on Thursday at 7 PM AEDT.
