Bendigo claim victory despite a late surge from Adelaide

Game Summary

The Bendigo Spirit came out firing in true Bendigo style in the first quarter taking a 20-11 lead at quarter time. However Adelaide Lightning regrouped and didn't let the game get away from them, putting in a solid second quarter effort only trailing by 3 points heading into half time. From that point on in the game, it remained a relentless battle between the two sides. Despite Bendigo threatening to run away with the game at points in the second half, it was credit to Adelaide as they showed grit, keeping themselves in the game till the final siren. 

Kelsey Griffin showed her experience and dominance leading the way with 19 points and a huge 13 rebounds. However with Bendigo they always have multiple threats on the offensive end with Sami Whitcomb finishing with 16 points, Veronica Burton with 10 points and Mariana Tolo and Casey Samuels both having 8 points. 

Isobel Borlase and Steph Talbot were crucial for the Lightning as they took it to the ladder leaders. Borlase finished with 16 points whilst Talbot had 14 points of her own.
