Announcement posted by Basketball Australia 03 Jan 2025

24/25 WNBL Season - Round 10

Game Summary

The UC Capitals got revenge on the Adelaide Lightning after suffering a one-point loss back in Round 7. It was a see-saw match with both teams having spouts of momentum, with 11 lead changes throughout the match. However, a big last quarter from the Caps propelled them to their third win of the season and made Nicole Munger's 50th game much more enjoyable.

Despite the loss, Adelaide's young duo, Isobel Borlase and Issie Bourne were a shining light for the Lightning team. Borlase finished with 25 points while Bourne had a massive 29 points, 6 3-pointers made and 3 steals. In the end, it was the lack of consistency from the home side which led to their loss.

Jade Melbourne reached 1000 career WNBL points as she continues to shine, her last quarter performance lifted the Caps to their vital win. Nicole Munger also starred in her milestone match, completing the game with 24 points and 7 rebounds and was clutch from the arch. Another starring Cap was Charli Collier, as she led the way with 25 points and 16 rebounds, key in her match-up with Adelaide's Brianna Turner.

Both teams get the opportunity to play again in Round 10. The Capitals taking on Geelong United at home, while the Adelaide Lightning take a trip to the West to face off against the Perth Lynx.
