Renowned Australian tenor, Mark Vincent will release his first independent album after nearly 15 years with a major label on Friday, October 18.
Titled "Life Is Beautiful" and produced by Mark's long-time friend and collaborator, Chong Lim, this lush album sees Mark stepping boldly out of the operatic world and into a diverse repertoire of pop songs and contemporary musical theatre hits. From the timeless melodies of The Beatles to the rousing rock of Queen, and from the emotive power of "Les Miserables" to the grand romance of "Moulin Rouge," each song has been carefully chosen to represent a new and personal chapter in Mark's storied career.
A standout feature of this album is the range of collaborations with celebrated artists. "The Long and Winding Road" features a stunning duet with Australian icon who is also Mark's mentor and friend, David Campbell. Mark also teams up with acclaimed mezzo-soprano Silvia Colloca, exquisitely complementing each other in "Come What May".
Another highlight is the inclusion of Mark's first original single, "Se Ami La Vita (Life is Beautiful)", composed and produced by Andrea Bocelli's longtime collaborator, Pierpaolo Guerrini. This song, which debuted at No. 1 on the Apple Music Classical Charts, is a profound testament to Mark's journey and growth as an artist. It was originally intended for Bocelli, but with the maestro's blessing, it became Mark's to share with the world.
Reflecting on the song selection, Mark shares his thoughts and the personal significance behind each piece:
- Sei Ami La Vita - This original song, written by Pierpaolo Guerrini, represents a dream come true for Mark. It's not just his first original single, but a gift that connects him with Andrea Bocelli's legacy. "It's a song that holds so much potential and already has touched many hearts," Mark says, "I'm proud it's on this album."
- The Long and Winding Road - A unique collaboration with David Campbell, this rendition of The Beatles classic is a celebration of friendship and mentorship. Mark reflects, "To record this with David, someone who has guided me since I was 17, is a full-circle moment. Our voices blend in a way that's surprising and wonderful."
- Never Enough - Inspired by the movie, "The Greatest Showman," Mark embraced the challenge of making this powerful ballad his own. "Finding a balance between honouring the original and bringing my own twist was a journey, but it's one I'm proud of," he shares.
- Bring Him Home - From "Les Miserables", this song has been a live favourite for years. "As a father, the meaning of this song deepens for me," Mark reveals. "It's a tribute to family and the longing to be with loved ones."
- Who Wants to Live Forever - Mark steps out of his comfort zone with this classic Queen anthem. "Freddie Mercury was a genius who transcended genres. Bringing an operatic twist to this song was challenging but deeply rewarding."
- Butterfly Kisses - A heartfelt dedication to his daughter Kiara, this Bob Carlisle classic captures the profound bond between father and daughter. "Recording this song brought tears to my eyes. It's about the beautiful, emotional moments of fatherhood," Mark reflects.
- Circle of Life - Honouring his love for musical theatre, Mark's rendition of "Circle of Life" from "The Lion King" is a celebration of childhood memories and the timelessness of the story. "We've created a version that respects the original, but also adds our unique touch," Mark notes.
- Come What May - A duet with Silvia Colloca, this song is a tribute to enduring love. "Singing with Silvia is always a wonderful experience, and this song reminds me of my love for my wife, Stephanie," Mark says.
- Because We Believe - A sentimental piece that evokes childhood memories, this song was taught to Mark by his late grandfather. "Every time I sing it, I'm brought back to those weekends learning the lyrics. It's a cherished part of my past," he reflects.
Featuring the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, conducted any Péter Illényi and the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir conducted by Andrew Wailes, this album is not just a collection of songs; it's a celebration of Mark Vincent's evolution as an artist, a tribute to his influences, and a heartfelt gift to his fans. Each track is a testament to his love for music and his willingness to push boundaries. Enjoy this remarkable collection and experience Mark Vincent like never before.
